Hardware University

The Université du Matériel is a unique facility in France, combining training rooms, practical workshops and accommodation and catering facilities for SNCF group employees, with a view to the outside world. It provides training in the field of railway maintenance, supported by a team of dedicated trainers and training engineering to offer relevant and educational curricula for trainees.

Opening up

In addition to its historical customers, UDM is gradually opening up to other entities, in particular SNCF Group subsidiaries and SAs, as well as dedicated companies created as part of the move to open up to competition.
The Université du Matériel also offers its expertise and training know-how to external companies, providing basic training (stripping, crimping, wiring, welding, etc.).

Finally, it is developing partnerships with local players in training (universities and schools) and industry (UIMM's Fab Academy, Le Mans Innovation, etc.).

Adaptability

UDM deploys customized training engineering, based on innovative methods and tools: virtual reality, augmented reality, Serious Games, e-learning... It integrates skill enhancement courses, targeted both by type of equipment and by profession. This enables us to anticipate and implement the training required for the arrival of new equipment and technologies.

Close to home

With the construction of a new site close to the station, SNCF Voyageurs retains a real living space conducive to the development of a collective spirit. Sharing experience and working together are essential to the progress, cohesion and loyalty of SNCF Voyageurs staff.

Employability

Ensuring the employability of SNCF staff is the watchword at UDM. This means :

• developing internal skills in collaboration with the Group's other training players: Transformation, Management, IS... ;
• offering a 360° training program for the Equipment professions, through apprenticeships, technical and technological training in railways, Operational Excellence, Supply Chain, etc., all of which are essential to the industrial performance of train maintenance.
