    Our offer

    INTERCITÉS enables you to get around France every day, day and night. Over 12 million passengers are carried every year to 150 destinations in France.

    Providing a public service

    The INTERCITÉS offer serves the main French cities that are not connected to high-speed rail. Through our new TET 2022-2031 agreement with the French government, we are committed to :

    • guarantee greater safety, regularity, information and security for our customers, by supporting the State in the renewal of equipment;
    • assert ourselves as a key player in regional mobility, while offering an environmentally-friendly transport solution;
    • be ever closer to our customers, with a more personalized relationship, combined door-to-door offers and on-board entertainment;
    • innovate by offering ever more digital services.

    The role of the State

    As the organizing authority for TET (Trains d'Équilibre du Territoire), the French government defines and validates :

    • the transport plan and services (lines, number of trains, stops) ;
    • the rolling stock renovation and renewal program;
    • annual service quality targets.

    The role of INTERCITÉS

    As a TET operator, INTERCITÉS must:

    • operate and market its trains;
    • manage and assume responsibility for their management and maintenance;
    • be a driving force behind commercial, fare and passenger distribution policies.

    What is the convention d'exploitation des trains d'équilibre du territoire (TET)?

    The 2022-2031 TET (Trains d'Équilibre du Territoire) operating agreement, signed by the French government (as the organizing authority for the TETs) and SNCF Voyageurs, reflects the ambition shared by our Group and the French Ministry of Transport to develop day and night rail services, in order to improve regional services while preserving the environment.

    The agreement aims to increase the number of passengers carried by TETs by around 20% over the next ten years.

    This document constitutes the contractual framework within which INTERCITÉS trains are operated on the TET network, with an average of 90 trains a day, carrying almost 9 million passengers a year. The network is currently made up of the following lines, which may be modified by amendment:

    • 3 main lines (Paris - Limoges - Toulouse, Paris - Clermont-Ferrand and Bordeaux - Marseille) ;
    • 4 regional lines (Nancy-Lyon, Nantes - Lyon, Nantes - Bordeaux, Toulouse - Hendaye and Clermont-Ferrand - Béziers);
    • 8 night routes (Paris - Briançon /Paris- Nice / Paris - Toulouse / Paris-Rodez - Albi /Paris-Aurillac / Paris - Tarbes / Paris-Latour-de-Carol and Paris Cerbère).

    The text also includes a profit-sharing mechanism directly indexed to passenger satisfaction and service quality (punctuality, responsiveness and reliability of passenger information, particularly in the event of disruptions).

    Lastly, the agreement sets out a progressive timetable for opening up the TET lines to competition in batches, in accordance with the 2018 rail law.
